Hi there,

I own a pink Wishblade, and use it with Create and Cut Plus on my Mac. I am not from the U.S. so I am opting to post on this forum rather than call the U.S. hotline.

I recently downloaded a file that is only usable in gsd form. I hence read through the article on preparing gsd files for use in Create and Cut, and borrrowed  a PC to open the file with in Create and Cut. The file loaded, but I cannot change the fill nor the line colour at all, and so when I print it as a pdf, if is blank.

I'd be extremely grateful for a response from the Xyron Support Team (or anyone else here, for that matter), as I would hate to not be able to use this file (I paid for it!).

Thanks very much!

Best,

Kelly

The only way to add a solid fill in the Wishblade software is if the graphic is a closed curve. Sometimes files imported as DXF into the Wishblade program come in as open curves. Contact the creator of the file and see if they have a copy of the original file as a DXF (or AI, WMF, CDR and many more) file will open directly into Create and Cut.

All of the original Xyron Wishblade clip art was created with closed curves and therefore will fill without any problems. Unfortunately when using other artists work, especially the free downloads, the files may not have been created properly.

My GSD documents were created using the "Auto Trace" function in the Wishblade software.  They will not fill.  Is there a way to convert GSD documents created by the Wishblade Auto Trace function into a file format that is readable by the software that will fun on Windows 7?

The only way I'm aware of is the conversion by printing to PDF - so if your object did not trace as a filled object I don't believe it will work.

However, Create and Cut Plus has a great auto-trace feature, much more precise than the Wishblade software's. You can always open the document in Wishblade software and enlarge it to fit the page, set the line fill to black, then print and scan it, and import the bitmap scan in Create and Cut and run auto-trace again. Make sure you use the options available in Design Central for a clean auto trace.
