Assorted Printed Papers
Lined writing paper
Cotton String
Fibers
Die Cuts
Paper Punch

Die Cuts (flowers)
Xyron 900
Trim the bottoms off the paper lunch bags.
Cut a strip of cardstock 5-1/2” x 8”. Put through the Xyron machine.
Score then fold accordion style every 1 inch. Insert 1 bag between each
fold. Accordion cardstock forms a spine for the journal.
Cut a 4-1/2 x 5-1/2” rectangle of solid cardstock (blue shown here) and
a 3-1/2” x 4-1/4” rectangle from another color (pink shown here). Cut 10
-- 3/4 inch squares of cardstock from rainbow colors. Punch center of 2
of the squares. Put 2 rectangles and 10 squares of cardstock through the
Xyron Machine. Adhere to the cover (as shown in sample above) with
punched squares in center of rows.
Take a 6” piece of fiber tie it to the punched square on the left. Weave
the fiber through 3 die cut flowers (if flowers do not have center
holes, using a paper punch - punch out 2-3 holes in the center of each
flower) and tie on the right side.
Punch a hole on each end of the cardstock spine. Tie an 8” piece of rope
and fiber through the 2 holes and tie it at the top and bottom. Fray the
ends of the rope. Tie a 4” piece of rope through the square on the
center, right side. Fray the ends of the rope.
Put embellishments through the Xyron machine. Embellish bag fronts and
backs with paper, die cuts and photos.
To create the small writing journals:
We created one journal for each season and color-coded them according to
the season. Orange for Fall, Blue for Winter, Yellow for Spring and
Green for Summer. We also decorated the bag before each journal in
seasonal designs.
Cut a 4” x 4” piece of cardstock. Score at 2”, 3” then fold on scores.
Cut a 4” x 10-1/2” piece of printed paper and fold in half.
Cut 10 sheets of lined paper 4” x 5-1/4”.
Insert the 10 sheets of lined paper into the folded printed paper.
Insert the booklet into the folded cardstock between the 1” folds.
Staple in place.
Punch the extended portion of the cardstock spine and tie a 6” piece of
rope through the hole and fray edges.
Repeat to create 3 more journals. Insert journals into each bag.
