Difficulty:

Step-by-Step Instructions
- Wash and iron all fabrics according to manufacturer’s instructions.
- Hand cut all pieces for the growth chart except for the tree top circles. You can use a fabric pencil to sketch out the clouds, tree trunk and ground onto the back of your fabric. Cut out and run shapes thru the Xyron Creatopia using the fabric adhesive cartridge.
- Run the 12” x 36” piece of natural quilt batting thru the Xyron Creatopia using the fabric adhesive cartridge. Center onto the back of one piece of the 13” x 37” light blue fabric. This is the light blue piece you will be appliquéing on.
- Place the ‘ground’ onto the bottom of the light blue fabric. Stitch along the top of the ‘ground’ only.
- Place the tree trunk onto the light blue fabric. The bottom of the tree trunk will overlap the ground fabric. Stitch both sides of the tree trunk.
- Using the Xyron Creatopia and a large circle die cut as many circles as you will need to fit your tree from the green fabric. Run the circles thru the Xyron Creatopia using the fabric adhesive cartridge. Arrange on light blue fabric and overlapping the tree trunk. Stitch around circles as shown in the sample.
- Apply clouds to the light blue fabric and stitch around edges.
- Using the 6” x 2” strips of light blue fabric fold right sides together and stitch. You will now have a 6” long tube. Turn and press the seam to the back. Fold in half with seam on the inside of fold pin to the front of the appliquéd light blue piece. Pin the second piece of light blue fabric to the appliquéd piece, right sides together. Stitch around edges, using a half inch seam allowance. Leave an opening at the bottom of the chart (under the ‘ground’. You will use this opening to turn the growth chart and then hand stitch the opening closed. Press.
- Use the Creatopia and dies to cut different shapes for the butterfly and owl. You can hand cut the kite shapes. Run foam pieces thru again using the Xyron Creatopia adhesive cartridge and adhere to chart.
- Use the Design Runner and the ruler accessory to print the height and date to add to the foam pieces. For the Owl nest, run a piece of light brown ribbon thru the Xyron 1.5" create-a-sticker and then cut it into small strips (before removing the adhesive backing paper.) After you have placed the owl onto the growth chart you will add the ribbon snips randomly overlapping each other to ‘build’ a nest.
- Hang chart on wall and start measuring. Enjoy!
