I'm also having problems getting the software to run. I received the xyron wishblade as a gift from my husband. Installed all the software (Xyron Wishblade 4.1 and Create and Cut 1.0) and I then I watched the video. Well...I thought I would simply try to cut out font letters. I couldn't tell which program to use! What is the difference between the two? So..I clicked on create and cut and when I tried to "cut" it started opening up different boxes. Then it said, "error opening to port"....over and over...then it almost appeared as if several duplicate programs of create and cut were open. So...tried closing....said, "cannot be closed because you have a prior application open". What!?! Couldn't close anything! So...shut down the computer...restarted and when I tried to unintall create and cut it says, "windows service pack 3 error...empty temp file folder (where/what is that!?!?) and restart.... NOTHING. So...I've reinstalled for the 4th time. I can get wishblade to open and it did cut for me so I'm not sure what's going on with create and cut. I do know I wanted to make a silhouette and the directions are NOT clear. I think a phone consult would clear this up very quickly because I'm pretty computer savvy. Seems like compatibility/stability issues :(

Also, is there not a way for the fonts to show up as they will look rather than clicking on the font in order to see what that font looks like?  I know some fonts by heart, but MANY I do not and can't tell by looking at the font name.  It seems necessary to have a pop up box where you could EASILY see the font style.  I can't seem to find that.  Please help.

Create and cut is a very stable program - When you install Create and Cut there is a pause and the end of the installation process before you get a box saying that the installation is successful. If you closed the installer while it was pausing it may not have installed properly. I would recommend uninstalling and re-installing first.

Sounds like you are having a port conflict with Create and Cut - there is a very simple fix to this - you need to change the port in Production Manager. To change ports do the following:

  1. Make sure the USB cable is plugged directly into your computer and your Wishblade and not into a USB hub or keyboard port..
  2. Make sure the Wishblade is turned On (Blue button is illuminated)
  3. Open Production Manager by clicking on it’s icon in the Cut Plot menu or from your Desktop.
  4. If there are any job errors on the right portion of Production Manager delete each one by clicking to highlight it and then click on the Trash Can.
  5. Right Click Xyron Wishblade@ from the lists of devices on the left.
  6. Select Change Port
  7. The Change Port Dialog Loads
  8. Click on the Scroll Down Menu to see the available ports.

Note: The list will vary depending on the USB ports available for your computer. You may need to change ports several times and try all available ports shown in the list.
  9. Select a different port (such as USB 01)
  10. Select Apply
  11. Select OK
  12. Launch Create and Cut and do test cut

This will solve your port issue.

Regarding the Font issue - In Create and Cut once you have typed your text with the text tool Look at the DESIGN CENTRAL menu. Design Central always gives you the options available for any specific tool or function. When text is selected, Design Central shows you a tab with the letter A on it. Click on the A tab. When you click to change your font in Design Central you get a sample of the font and not just the name.

Hi Sandy!

I did all this and everything seems to be working just fine: I can do whatever I want with the software, except having it to cut... It will not "see" the wishblade: when I go to the production manager and try to set it up, it will only show Graphtec USB and no other port...

Anything I can do to get this problem solve?

Thank you very much!

Make sure your Wishblade and any other usb devices are turned on and connected to your computer via USB when you try to change the port or it will not recognize other available ports.

Make sure your USB cable is plugged into the back of your computer and not into a usb hub or keyboard connection.

If it still does not work - call tech support and we can troubleshoot further.
