Dear Technical help:
I bought this Xyron Personal Cutting System off of Ebay and the buyer said the machine was working and was in excellent condition.
Well I received the machine with all the parts and it does look like it is in excellent condition. I have read the manual over and over about 3 times and I am not finding any troubleshooting tips for the problems I am having with the machine. I turn the machine on. Then I insert the book into the center of the dock. The machine recognizes the book and says the title of the book on the LCD screen. Then it says to select size then select shape. That is as far as I can get. The LCD screen freezes with this message and it won’t let me do anything else. What is the problem do you think? I was sent 3 used books and 1 brand new one that was never opened. I thought at first maybe it was just the old books that were maybe worn out but I tried the new book with the same results. I sometimes get a message (011306A application)on the LCD screen and then goes to select a size and shape. Also I have made sure that the tabs are pressed firmly to activate the sensors. I have even used the cleaning of the book tray connector with a commercial air can to clean out the connecter. Please help with some advice. Very Frustrated!!!!

I am having the same issues as the customer above. I bought the machine brand-new in March of 2007, along with five design books. I used it a few times, then changed the blade in January of 2008, and the machine immediately started having the exact same issues as the customer above has stated.
I put it away, and never called about it, because I had a new baby at the time, and also didn't realize there was a one-year warranty on it. I recently pulled the machine back out to see if there was any way to salvage it, and it still works fine, recognizes the book that has been inserted, but freezes when it comes to the screen where it asks you to select the size and shape.
Now, it is out of warranty, and I have a non-working machine, five design books, and the carrying case. It seems to be a software issue, and not something that I did to it. I have taken the blade in and out several times, hoping that will fix it. I have also tried all of my books (one was brand-new and still in the package), taken out the paper tray and cleaned the contacts, and made sure the contacts were clean between the book and the tray on the machine.
Am I now stuck with an overpriced doorstop, or is there anything at all that can be done to help me out? When I called Xyron recently, they offered me to purchase a refurbished machine, but I am a full-time student, and it is not in the budget at the moment.
Sorry to hear about that - I have 2 PCS's that I love and use regularly with my kids. Unfortunately if it is out of warranty all we can offer you is a refurbished model at a really low price. If you already have multiple books you might wish to look into that further by calling Customer Service.
